VLC window is always open too big

I want the window only open so big as the video in normal size. How can I adjust this for each new video file I play with?

You have the autoscale option on?

yes and if I only open vlc without a video the window is also really big anf fill complete window. It seems so it does not remember the last windows size. I use 1980x1024 as solution

Does it help if you reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folder?
