I don't "NEED" 1.1.12. Although the "News" page says:So far, I don't plan to do a 1.1.12 release for Win32.

unfortunately when you reach the VLC home page using a Windows browser, the button on the home page clearly offers 1.1.12 FOR WINDOWSVLC 1.1.12

VideoLAN and the VLC development team present VLC 1.1.12, a bug and security fix release with improvements for audio output on Mac OS X and with PulseAudio.
This release was necessary due to a security issue in the HTTP and RTSP server components, though this does not affect standard usage of the player.

and the download link tries to download vlc-1.1.12-win32.exe from Sourceforge. Since this file doesn't exist, sourceforge just sends the user back to the VLC home page with no explanation.
