Stopping VLC v1.1.11 From auto-playing dvds

Postby dbroker » 24 Aug 2011 02:42

Hello, long time user of VLC, first time post here. I would like to stop VLC from automatically playing dvds in Windows 7 when I insert a disk. I have found every option in the world, except options to unassociate VLC from certain file types, even when reinstalling the program and clicking carefully through the install. I don't want it to do anything with ANY disk unless I specifically go to a file on that disk and click it.

I've looked through the forums, but only found complaints about when VLC DOESN'T play disks. Thank you for reading.

This is a Win7 Control panel option.

While this is an old thread, I just had this issue and had wanted something more specific than just Control Panel. So I'm sharing.

Click Start, Control Panel, Auto Play. If you want a prompt to pop up so you can pick from various program choices, choose 'Ask Me Every Time.' If you don't want anything at all to happen and you'll do it all yourself without any prompting, just choose "Take No Action."
