Video wallpaper never worked for me (Windows XP)

Postby darius » 11 Aug 2011 13:01

Hello,

Video wallpaper never worked for me (Windows XP)
I tried +100 times and all I get is black wallpaper disappearing when I refresh background and old backrgound image is back in place.

I visited +100 web links (from Google) about setting up video as background wallpaper and never succeeded.

I exactly followed manuals, instructions and when I select DirectX wallpaper nothing changes, I can see wallpaper in black .

Installed latest VLC for Windows XP.

Any idea how to reproduce your success ?

Darius

Does the Direct3D wallpaper work any better? Does VLC log (Tools -> Messages and set Verbosity to 2) complain something?

That error is Error -2005532522: DDERR_INVALIDRECT :: Rectangle provided was invalid, so it is either driver bug or some sort of logic error in VLC.

Thanks.
I tested video wallpaper on laptop Windows 7 and failed.
I will send you debug listing.

BTW
Looking for one person who succeeded to play video in the background (Windows XP preferred).
