Is there VLC 64bit and 1.1.4 NOT updating

1. Although the 32bit VLC Player seems to work "OK" with Win 7 32 and 64bit, is there a Win 7 64bit specific version available or even needed ??

Just wondering as of late.

2. This may be temporary, but VLC Media Player 1.1.4's Check for updates is NOT picking up the fact that VLC Update 1.1.5 is valid and available.

Of course, manually downloading and installing VLC Player 1.1.5 works just fine.

Great code and an overall great media player -- and then some!

If you or the VideoLAN team need qualified VLC Player users and qualified Alpha / Beta testers, with Windows 7 32 and 64bit installation to Alpha or Beta / Release Candidate test any upcoming Win 7 64bit code, I am happy to do so.

If you or the VideoLAN team need qualified VLC Player users and qualified Alpha / Beta testers, with Windows 7 32 and 64bit installation to Alpha or Beta / Release Candidate test any upcoming Win 7 64bit code, I am happy to do so.
It will be public testing (same as with other releases). So you can jump right in when first release will be out.

v1.1.5 is out for 3 days (IINM) now and it fixes a security vulnerability.

v1.1.5 is out for 3 days (IINM) now and it fixes a security vulnerability.
Because you haven't offered us a new server.

You mean updates don't work at all?
I thought they do, just that 1.1.4 is listed as latest version.

Weeks have passed and Check update still claims there is no newer version than 1.1.4.

If the infrastructure for update checks is not in place, then why is the feature in the client enabled?
Now it gives the users false information that they are running the latest version, when actually they have a security vulnerability which allows remote code execution.

If your servers are capable of returning "1.1.4 is latest" to update checks, I don't see why a new server is needed to return "1.1.5 is latest" or even "404 - updates don't work".

Updates seem to work now.

I started v1.1.9 on Windows XP and it informed it automatically that 1.1.10 is available.

Yes, we should have a way to kill running vlc.exe in the installer.

I "fixed" the problem by killing the vlc.exe process with Task Manager.
A properly working VLC Media Player installer automatically and correctly performs the following:

It looks for both an older version of VLC installed, AND it also offers to terminate any currently running VLC Media Player, then remove it, saving the users VLC settings as an option, then continue onwards with properly installing the new or updated incoming version of VLC.

What more could be asked for ?

If a users system does not do the above, recommendation is to check the status and any settings in the user's system first, just to be sure of that aspect.
