Hi :)

I have a similar problem and it would be great if you could help me out too.

Basically it is the same situation and forcing the FFmpeg demuxer works,
but there is a catch with that solution...
If I force the FFmpeg demuxer I do get the sound, but I lose the video and
that surely can not really be the intention here. :(
It is either video or sound...
(Technically the video stream seems to be still there, it is just black.)
Do you have any idea what might cause this and how it could be fixed? :?:

Also, at this location (Preferences-Input/Codecs-Video Codecs-FFmpeg) at
the bottom is an entry called "Ffmpeg mux" with an entry field, but I don't
know what I would have to enter here or if it would even help. Any ideas? :?:

Here are the Codec Details:

Stream 0:
Type: Video
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part10) (avc1)
Language: English
Resolution: 1920x1080
Frame Rate: 29.970000

Stream 1:
Type: Audio
Codec: DVD LPCM Audio (lpcm)
Language: English
Channels: 2
Sample Rate: 30464 Hz
Bits per sample: 16
Bitrate: 974 kb/s

Thank you very much for any help you can provide. :)

Janus

No, you don't have a similar problem.
So the fix isn't working for you...

Can you share the sample?

Thank you for your quick resonse. :)

Well, unfortunately it is not possible to share a sample at this time,
but I will see if I can change that. It will take some time though and
I would appreciate any help, guesses, hints or tips you could provide
at this moment without a sample. :)

Thank you very much for your help. :D

Janus

P.S.:
If I should manage to get a suitable sample, would it be possible to
somehow send it to you in private, since I would not like to post it
here publicly?

Yes, you can send private samples, but it would be best if you could just record wall or furniture or something similar and send us that clip.

Hi again :)

Thank you all for your efforts so far, but I was able to bypass this problem
by simply converting the audio track of the file into a format that is more
common and therefore much simpler to access. ;)
It may be a bit lame for the Pros out there , but thanks to SUPER I just had
to stream the video, convert the audio and now I have I perfectly useable
media file. :D

The problem itself may now be purely academic, but if anyone still wants to
speculate what the problem was I would be interested to hear your theories...

Thank you for your help.

Force the ffmpeg demuxer in preferences.
Audio -> Input / Codecs -> Demuxers
Even search didn't help, I looked up vlcrc config file as well, nothing. Now it'll be easier for others to find it.
