Mozilla plug in not installed !

Postby ashanta » 19 Mar 2011 17:22

Hi,

I've just reinstalled with the latest version of VLC 1.17.

I'm using Cometbird (firefox version) and I noticed that VLC setup installation doesn't install the plug in VLC working with Mozilla/Firefox.

When clicking on Add-ons, VLC plugin doesn't appear. How to solve this issue ?

PS: During the installation, I check Mozilla plug in.

Thanks in advance

Same problem here: I suppose I'm obviously missing a step, but I can't find where the plugin is located. I've just downloaded VLC 1.1.8 32/64 bits version from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html (especially because other threads here viewtopic.php?f=12&t=89172&p=293884&hil ... in#p293884 explain that there is no 64bits version of the plugin yet), but still fail to see the plugin. Thanks for any help!

npvlc.dll file should be under C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\Mozilla folder.

I don't have Mozilla folder. Which are both files I need it ? Let me know in order to do it manually.

You talked about npvlc.dll , and the other file, which one is ?

Still waiting... I need to fix this as soon as possible.

Other file?
I don't have Mozilla folder
If .exe installer doesn't create the folder, then you can download and extract it from .7z package.

You said : Other file ? Yes, they are two files according to the next url

From the link you posted before : http://wiki.videolan.org/Windows#VLC_Pl ... Mozilla.29

VLC Plugin for Firefox (Mozilla)

The Mozilla plugin (Excerpted from the VLC User Guide)

Install

There are at least two ways to install the VLC Mozilla Plugin. One way is to to check the "Install Firefox Plugin" when you install VLC.

If the standard exe installation does not install the mozilla plugin directory then download zip version which includes the required data and continue with the next installation (2nd way of installing of the plugin)

The second way involves several steps:

1. Quit Firefox or Mozilla

2. Copy the two files in VLC_Installation_folder\mozilla (usually C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\mozilla) to your mozilla plugins directory (Usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla\plugins or C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins).

3. Restart Firefox or Mozilla

Both files were npvlc.dll and npvlc.dll.manifest

Where can I make a test to see if all is OK, now ?

That page also has a scam bar on top. It hides the original location via linkmeee.com
