mkv grainy picture.

Postby subz » 22 Nov 2010 15:58

Hi,

I recently bought a new computer. I installed VLC since it's the best movie player out there imo.
I got some problems the quality of the picture aint so good and it's grainy. I did a search on the forums and found a thread with a guy that had the same problem tried the suggestions there but it haven't helped.I also changed the video output to opengl and tested the rest worse results. Any suggestions?.
I updated my video card driver and reinstalled them twice.

Computer spec is p7 @ 3.0GHz | 4gb ram | Club 3d Ati 6800 |

Problem happens with all files? Did you try all possible video output modules?

I get the same problem with some, but not all high quality(1080p 8GB) mkv videos. Changing the video output module to anything but default only makes the quality worse.

EDIT: hmm, it seems that using vlc's extended settings to adjust image colors makes the quality seem worse. Unchecking "image adjust" to remove all my settings(and using graphic card color settings instead) seems to make the grainyness less noticeable but it's still there.

Hey! I'm new at Vlc Player, so i need help. What do i do when i want to adjust picture brightness/colors/contrast? I was reading manual before today, and in it it's said that i should go in in to the meny and then setting and then extended GUI, but i couldn't find it in the meny? And then what do i do after this ? I have a version of 1.1.11 of this. If someone could answer me this , this would be great ! And just a another question i was wondering is : what do i do when i want to adjust sound , that it is low ? I hope someone would answer these question. Thank u !

I am also experiencing grainy picture with mkv files specifically in 720pHD. When I use snapshot, the images appear blurred. VLC seems to hesitate between the time of command input and the actual snapshot.

Did you test with VLC 1.2.0 nightly builds?
