VLC 1.1.6(1.1.8 happen also) file associations crash

When i'm trying to change the file associations vlc crash when apply the changes, this only happen in the vlc program and not in the setup.

Same problem, just downloaded VLC 1.1.7 (zip file) for WinXPSP3 and tried to associate all video extensions to VLC, upon clicking apply, VLC is gone. Tried several times, same result. Apply=crash.
Bug report (assuming this is definitely not a feature)?

(I am fairly new gto VLC, so I am not familiar to the "rules" of submitting bug reports).

I would confirm this is happening also on v 1.1.8 windows 7 64 bit.

Same thing is happening to me too. VLC 1.1.8, Windows XP SP3. Set file associations and it crashes when I click apply.

Only with the SO and "open with" and checking for all files.
In VLC the file association is broken and allways crash vlc when you click apply
