Record parts of DVD

Postby pari53 » 02 Dec 2010 11:39

Hi all.
I'm using VLC 1.1.5 on a laptop WIn XP Pro SP3.
I would like to record parts of a DVD.
I have used the "RECORD" button, but it doesn't work.

The Record button is working fine for me for recording parts of a DVD.
Open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback-recording and then paste the resulting log here.

Hi all,
Shame on me..I never noticed this "record" possibility (probably because the "Advanced controls" were not selected in the "View" menu, so the "record" red button wasn't visible)

I just tried it but couldnt find out where the recorded part was saved (pari53, could it be the same problem for you ?)
Then I used the "Message verbosity 2" (thx Lotesdelere) and started recording again, so I could read in the log file where was the output path : it showed "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrateur\Mes documents\Mes vidéos" and yes, the recorded part was there.

Question : is it possible to modify this path and choose myself an output path ?

Thx for this "record" functionality, it allowed me to extract a part of an .mp4 file (which wasn't easily extractible with another software), especially it appears to be a "lossless" recording :)
