Dell Premium remote not functioning as I want since upgrade

Postby shadowdogg » 29 Jul 2010 20:07

Dell Premium remote not functioning as I want since upgrade from VLC 0.9.7 to 1.1.1

The computer is a Dell XPS M1530 running Windows 7 Professional.

All the settings worked as I intended as I wanted the play/pause button to function as the "PLAY" and the stop button to function as the "PAUSE ONLY." When I upgraded I uninstalled but I didn't change and kept my settings so it is definitely a fault within VLC itself.

Without my telling it what to do (i.e. no hotkeys) it will Play but not Pause and Stop. Maybe it is a mode I need to turn on again since the install of this but I cannot remember how I made it work initially with VLC.

It does understand the commands when I set it and have tried both global and hotkey (i think so anyway) with the functionality I wanted but it doesn't seem to work.

If anyone can help would be great.

There isn't any VLC 0.9.7 release.

Been quite a while since I went to this and would like the possibility of a fix.

As mentioned before my remote is doing its own thing and overwriting anything VLC is doing i.e. if i set the Play/Pause button to Play only it still does Play/Pause.

On VLC 0.9.7 it worked totally fine so I assume it is some kind of setting which changed since these newer versions.

If nobody can think of what the problem is, would it be possible for someone to build me a custom build with the old hotkey system and the new for everything else?

I thought in 6+ months this might be fixed but seemingly not.

There isn't any VLC 0.9.7 release. And secondly VLC doesn't have any remote controller support build-in.

Of course there is - http://www.oldapps.com/VLC_Player.php?old_vlc=41

It was the latest stable build before the post 1.x release. All I am asking for is it to have the same functionality as before. Usually functionality isn't removed but for some reason it has been in VLC. Instead of simply taking the output as I want it, it seems VLC is not listening to what I want it to do and simply letting the remotes own default settings take over.

0.9.7 is not an official VLC release.

Hmm? Its an old release but it was a release. Anyway, nothing can be done about the hotkey system which is not working in the latest release?

Hotkeys and remote controllers are two different things. Some remote controllers software allows you to bind remote keys to regular keyboard hotkeys. Anyways, I try to add basic remote controller support as soon as my remote controller gets here.

Any more further to this VLCHelp?

I did notice I didn't have the remote control part of it open (not the interface but the other one) and now it is responding to my actual responses. However, it wants to do my binded one AND the default one.

So if I have stop button as the pause button then it doesn't work too well for what I want.

Did have the interface part on too but it was completely useless.

You can adjust default hotkeys via Tools -> Preferences

Thats what I have done VLC_help. I mean the default function from the remote is working alongside the VLC's one.

The you can avoid issues by unbinding the key from VLC.
