Assertion failed

Does anyone know what this message means? I searched the forums and there are a few similar ones but not this exact one (misc/picture_pool.c). It happened while I was trying to take screencaps from a mkv file right after I started playing it.
Most importantly, how can I fix it?

This is a development version. It has issues. This is expected.

The same happens with the lastest stable version, it's one of the reasons why I upgraded. :)
