Hang & ScreenSaver disabled after termination

VLC 1.1.4 Win xp sp2.
Noticed on this version that:
1. VLC hangs when exiting, particularly if there is some ff and rew while viewing.
2. ScreenSaver is left disabled upon exiting.

They do not happen all the time and may both happen or happen independently.

Microsoft must have gathered some info since I used the feature after using ctr alt del to terminate hanged vlc.

Same behavior on Windows 7 64bit. When closing vlc after playback, the Screensaver is disabled. After rebooting it works again. the energy safe functions are disabled too.
So if i watch a movie and fall asleep(this can happen ) my screen is on the whole night...

any ideas how to reactivate screensaver after the playback automaticlly or generally without reboot?
Maybe this behavior has to be fixed in vlc.

I wonder if the developing team is aware of this... I noticed several posts with 0 answers.

I also (sometimes) get a hang after I try to stop a movie while watching. The movie will stop, but hitting the x on the vlc window does nothing.

Also noted (sometimes) cursor won't vanish during playback.
