VLC audio stutters

Postby Mr. Baggins » 01 Sep 2010 17:24

When I play a DVD in VLC, the audio stutters continually, while the video runs smoothly. The same DVD plays perfectly on two other Windows operating systems. I have already tried changing the audio output module. I have the latest version (4.4.4); I believe it came out on August 27. I think that the new version is the problem because the DVDs were working fine on VLC before.

Any suggestions?

Does it help if you remove %appdata%\vlc folder?

I have the same problem when I try to listen to audio with my bluetooth headset. There is an interruption every second, very annoying. With other media players (Real, etc.) this problems does NOt exist. WHAT NOW?

I think I have the exact same problem, dvds played fine with the previous version of VLC, then when I went to play a DVD and opened VLC, it said the newer version was available, so I installed it, and now the DVD playback is messed up on every dvd I try. The video plays just fine, but the audio stutters in a strange way, it's like the audio is compressed into shorter segments, so the sound plays faster in evenly spaced bits.

I can play .avi files fine, mp3, wav, seems it's just some bug in 1.1.4 messing up DVD playback. Adjusting the dvd cache does nothing, where is this %appdata%\vlc folder, might that help?

This sounds exactly like my problem as well.

Found the folder in question (C:\Documents and Settings\<Account>\Application Data\vlc), exited out of the app and deleted it. This actually helped, but it did not get rid of the problem entirely. I watch drumming DVDs on this computer, and the stuttering makes them almost useless to listen to. Deleting this folder made the solos easier to hear, but the stuttering still exists...
