VLC Multiple Processes and Extra Windows

Postby VLC_User_13 » 30 Aug 2010 07:38

Vista Ultimate SP2
VLC 1.1.4

I have been a long time user of VLC since, according to my records, 12/07/2006. Never really had a problem that I felt needed posting until now. I installed 1.1.4 and anytime I update the program, I always clear cache and such.

Issue One
When I play my streams, say http://shout2a.gnax.net:5112 for my christianrock.net station, and the program automatically maximizes with each new song play. Now, this is the first issue. I have checked around and saw a post to delete, for me, C:\Users\laptop\AppData\Roaming\vlc, but that did not do anything helpful.

Issue Two
When VLC is running, some sort of blank window is also using its process. I can not close it. No separate process. Only one is vlc.exe. Under the running programs, there are multiple VLCs running along with the main. I can not figure this one out.

Any suggestion or thoughts about are appreciated when someone has a moment.

1. You are sure %appdata%\vlc folder was removed correctly?
2. Some screenshot that shows this?

Yes, the folder was removed correctly. VLC is on all defaults.

Here are the images.

This shows the distortion (when moving cursor and such) when the other VLC item is opened (see #3&4).
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj81 ... s/vlc2.jpg
Shows two VLC windows but one processor.

When the extra title activate, it executes image #4.

When the non-playing VLC item is active, the only thing that show on the screen is the top title bar as you see, labeled just "vlc."

Could you try to remove the %appdata%\vlc folder again?

I did, twice last night.
Does the same thing whether I play stream music, MP3s, or movies.
I am thinking a full uninstall of the program, eh? It was all good in 1.1.3.

All VLC settings are stored to %appdata%\vlc so uninstall shouldn't make a difference. Did you change some options after you removed the folder?
