Playlists broken

In all previous versions of VLC I was able to have playlists that didn't have the drive assignment only the path for the songs. When the playlist was given to VLC it looked in the current drive, i.e., the drive where the playlist is, found the songs and all was right with the world. Ah bliss.

Played at 11 of course.

Version 1.1.3 still does that ... unless the playlist and files are on a drive other than the drive that VLC is installed on (in this case the C:drive) then it gives me an error of:
File reading failed
Your input can't be opened

And just sits there. Silently laughing at me.

Is there a way around this huge problem short of editing over a thousand playlists? I'll change players before I do that and I don't want to use anything other than VLC.

Could you give us some example playlist?

It's just a simple flat list that worked in VLC before and still works in, ugh, WMP and Winamp. Having the list without any drive reference allows me to move the files and playlists to any drive I want without having to edit the playlists' internal drive designation. This new behavior in VLC is the same on both my XP Pro SP3 and Win 7 U x64 machines so it's not machine or OS specific.

My Winamp doesn't open it like. And VLC 0.8.6i works same.
