Decoding support for Intel GPUs and ATI GPUs without UVD2

Postby SoBugMeNot » 07 Aug 2010 16:40

Hi all,

since I couldn't find a satisfying answer by searching, I chose to start a new thread.

My question is if/when GPU decoding support will/can be implemented for
  1. Intel GPUs (in my case: Intel GMA X4500MHD)
  2. ATI GPUs without UVD2 (in my case: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 with UVD+)
I hope I didn't miss a thread in which thid was allready discussed.

Both are doable, but I would guess they won't arrive anytime soon. For Intel problem is that VLC team is lacking the hardware for testing. For ATI the current support requires ATI to enable certain APIs from drivers, and because it seems ATI has done that for only 4xx0 and newer, it would require new code to support older devices (which I am guessing nobody wants to do).
