VLC 1.1.1 Crashing when trying to convert media

I'm trying to convert the audio track on a mp4 video into mp3 audio.
Whenever I hit start after selecting the source file, the destination file and the profile, VLC crashes.

I've also tried .ogg and .wav with the same result.

Also if I try to directly convert the audio from a youtube video, I just get a 2kb file.

Am I doing something wrong?

Could you share us one problematic MP4 file so I could try to replicate this and open trac entry?
