Where do recordings go?

Postby O2B_Free » 26 Jul 2010 01:49

I just downloaded VLC 1.1.1 and I recorded a segment of a video I like. I looked in the libraries area (I am using windows 7) and did not see it there. I then looked at "preferences" which does not show a user defined download folder for anything but snapshots. When I click the record button it does not indicate that it is recording or when recording stops after I hit the record button again. I find this to be a disadvantage. Why would it not be possible to indicate when recording is taking place and when it stops? It would seem a small script would do the trick. When I used XP I never had a problem looking for anything on my computer but the search feature in windows 7 seems to miss keyword searches for files that I know I have. My burning question is how can I tell where VLC saved the recorded clip I made?

By default, recorded material go to "My Video" or "My Music" (depending on whether a video track is detected or not). Once you stop recording, the recorded file is available right away for replay in these directories. In addition, they can be accessed through the vlc playlist dialog box as predefined service discoveries.
