Streaming from Dreambox to VLC 1.1.0 fails on Win XP sp3

Postby amar » 14 Jul 2010 14:41

I have two Dreamboxes DM800 PVR, one with a sattelite tuner and the other with a cable tuner. I watch TV on the PC using the Streaming-Technology. The Stream goes from the Dreambox to the PC where it is played with the VLC Player.

This works fine for the following versions of VLC:
- 0.9.6
- 0.9.8a
- 0.9.9
- 1.0.0
- 1.0.2
- 1.0.3
- 1.0.5

But it doesn't work with the following versions
- 1.1.0-rc
- 1.1.0

I did not test other versions than the ones mentioned.

If I set the debug-level of vlc 1.1.0 to the value 2, it prints the following lines when I try to start Streaming and stop again:

Has anybodyx the same Problems? As mentioned, erlier versions of VLC ( < 1.1.0) work fine, so there is no problem with the source of the stream (Dreambox).

Do you have small capture we could use to replicate the issue?

No, captured files work fine. The problem only occures when I thry to stream over the net as mentioned above. I'm not sure if its a Windows problem or a general problem of of VLC. I don't have a Mac or Linux platform for testing.

So, I also posted this problem in the general VLC froum, and there, they mentioned that something about TS is broken in version 1.1.0. So I will wait for version 1.1.1

Well, I ran 1.1.0 successfully with my VU+ (Enigma2-based), but with v1.1.1 it fails. Still works fine with my Dreambox 7020 (Enigma1-based). The logger window says:

libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS discontinuity (received 7, expected 0) for PID 0
libdvbpsi error (PSI decoder): TS discontinuity (received 7, expected 0) for PID 260

My problem is gone with the latest nightly build (haven't made a reboot after uninstall old 1.1.0 and install of new 1.2.0.git though)
