vlc.exe won't stop

Postby Bellzemos » 20 Jul 2010 20:10

Hello! I have VLC media player 1.1.0 on Windows XP and when I close the program it's process remains active. I have to manually stop it in the task manager. But what's the worst is that I can't open any more video files until I close the process first. Please help.

Bellzemos, we are many users having same problem on Windows XP and I'm confident it will be fixed in next release.
Until then, there are 2 workarounds avoiding to stop the process in task manager :
1) Quit Vlc using Ctrl+Q (instead of clicking on the usual red cross button in the upper right corner)

2) If you forgot to quit using Ctrl+Q (i often forget), then a mouse clic on the Vlc icon in system tray will close the process, avoiding to open the task manager etc...
(if you don't have a Vlc icon showing in system tray, then you could check that option in Preferences)
