video crash

Postby h8thisforum » 16 Jul 2010 09:08

whenever I open vlc player it lowers my resolution and color scheme to the lowest possible quality making my monitor look like a badly colored Nintendo game. adjusting the setting will not work and i have tried reinstalling the program. this happens as soon as i start the program and ends as soon as I close the process tree. it renders all videos unwatchable they play as too large and blocky to make out. Has anyone else experienced this i searched the forum, but didn't know what this problem would even be called. VLC usually crashes on it's own after a few minutes of use. this has only started since i installed windows 7.

Hi, I'm no expert - but it sound to me that it could be graphical issue.
What graphic card do you use?
Is the correct drivers installed?
Do you have other player program's that works?
I think it could be a incompatable video overlaying problem.

Like ajhart said, update display adapter drivers. VLC cannot change screen resolution or color depth.
