Keyboard volume control

Postby Aaron44126 » 04 Jul 2010 00:26

I have a simple question that I can't seem to find the answer to.

On Windows, when the VLC window has focus and I press the volume control buttons on my laptop, it turns the volume in VLC up and down.

I want it to not do this, but instead turn the system volume up and down, which is the usual behavior. In other words, I don't want VLC to pay attention to my volume control buttons.

I checked Hotkeys in the settings and there doesn't seem to be any way to change this behavior there. Is this possible?

Thanks!

It isn't possible to change that. VLC 1.1.0 has a bug which increases both VLC and Windows Mixer volumes.

I have a HP Pavilion DV-5 and the same problem too, when I move the volume in the media keys, changes the volume in the Windows Mixer and in VLC. I hope that bug will be fixed soon, and it would be very good if you could activate/ deactivate the media keys of your keyboard as VLC keys, being turned off at Windows Mixer when are activate at VLC.

Greetings.

Just wanted to add that my Logitech keyboard does not do this - it's not a laptop.

I suffer from the same issue.
Also in addition, when my laptop button "Mute Sound" is pressed while the system is already muted (unmute), VLC will react by toggling it's "VLC Mute" ON. Therefore I have to toggle the system mute into ON before I enter VLC, else they will just swap mode with each other which results in a constant mute. I can click on the VLC mute button manually aswell to sort it out but I shouldn't have to do that.

Mucho anoying.
Spent like 10 minutes flipping through settings without finding anything

Is there any news on a fix for this and the Mute button problem as well?

They are fixed in upcoming VLC 1.1.6 release.
