HDMI and DisplayPort Audio support ?

Postby arion » 15 Sep 2009 09:42

Will VLC be implementing 8 channel audio 7.1 over HDMI and DisPlayPort for eg. BluRay with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA ?

It should already work. (well full DTS-HD MA support isn't in VLC)

I don't if anyone has tested that (with SPDIF selection).

I bought a new receiver and tried to play a Dolby TrueHD video, but the passthrough didn't work. I don't know if it was set properly:
Output mode: DirectX audio output
[Check] Use S/PDIF when available
Device: ATI HDMI

Would anyone tell me if these are the correct settings?

And I believe (not 100%) it also didn't work with DTS-MA, but it sent the normal DTS core. I need to verify it the video I used was really DTS-MA, but I'm almost sure it was.
Or, as said above, DTS-MA isn't fully supported, hence VLC works with the core only.
