VLC 1.1 Browser Plugins Black Screen With Sound

Postby donnapaul » 24 Jun 2010 15:09

Windows 7, Toshiba A75-S206, ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP -
I had to change VLC / Preferences / Video to Windows GDI output to get video.
However, the browser plugins (IE, FF, Chrome, etc) get only sound, with a black screen, apparently not picking up the winGDI setting.
What can I do?

You can remove the plugin that VLC uses by default (libdirectx_plugin.dll).

Thanks for the idea, but no good:
I renamed "libdirectx_plugin.dll" to "libdirectx_plugin.dllOLD", but still same thing: sound with black screen.
Help!

The plugin might still default to some other module (like Direct3D or OpenGL).

Continuing with your idead, I renamed: libdirect3d_plugin.dllOLD, libdirectx_plugin.dllOLD. Finally got output in a separate window with a title containing 'SDL'. So I then renamed: libvout_sdl_plugin.dllOLD, and now get output in my <applet...> element.
There are black bars on top and bottom, but it's good enough for now.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I wonder if you know of a simple way to add a debug log to my html to see what's actually going on during vlc plugin initialization?

Thanks, again.

Paul

No, since AFAIK file logging is still broken under Win32.
