Browser plugins do not work under Windows 7

Postby cowwoc » 02 Jun 2010 18:56

Hi,

I installed VLC 1.0.5 under Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I can play files under VLC just fine but when I hit http://goa103.free.fr/t_63455/example_1.html I get a black screen that reads "Waiting for Video". If I click on "Play Video" I get "document.video1.play is not a function" in the Javascript Error Console.

I suspect this is Windows7-specific because someone reported running into the same problem in the past and moving to Windows XP made the problem go away. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gili

VLC 1.1.0 RC does not work either, in spite of:

Any ideas?!

Sometimes if the format of the site video is not supported to the software then also this kind of problem happen and after that the software become corrupted. So for that you don't have to worry more. Just reinstall the player, it will work surely.
It does not work. I've installed the player on two separate computers with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and FireFox 3.6.3 and both fail exactly the same. Can anyone else reproduce this problem? Is anyone else running a similar (even if not identical) environment?

Thanks,
Gili

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 and Firefox 3.6.3 as well. Same problem, even with a fresh install of the operating system, Firefox and VLC.

Looking back through the forums I see this problem's been around since 2009. You guys planning on fixing that or what? Its kind of a show stopper, you know. I'm currently looking for a good player to replace VLC. Does Gom do embedded video?

Figured it out. The example page used an outdated API. I've updated the HTML (video.playlist.play instead of video.play) and now VLC now works fine under FireFox 3.6.3.

That's not a solution. A solution is something that doesn't involve having to rewrite the webpage HTML, assuming you're even able to do that. This problem is not fixed until I can view the following without having to hack something: http://mxl.fi/bpfeeds/#
