problem/bug? - ending chapters early

Postby leftkidney » 31 May 2010 12:54

so I have been noticing this for a while now, I was using the 1.0.5 and then tried the 1.1.0 rc but same problem so I went back to 0.9.6 which I have never had any problems with, and it works perfectly

what happens is when I am watching a DVD or a .iso file this happens - an example is this - the Lost DVD's or any other will do this also - watching deleted scenes or extras there are like 10-15 different scenes all together but they can all be played using the "Play All" button that most dvd's have - if I do that or watch them individually they end early, like about 2 seconds or so

the clip will end but its not over yet and there is nothing that can be done, it just ends early - the next one plays and also ends early

whats happening here?

Known issue. VLC 1.2.0 should work better with stream ending and opening.

where do I see the known issues? - is there a known issues log, like the change log that I can check before I post things in the future

seeing as this is a problem for anyone why uses vlc to play dvd's then it should be posted in bold or something like that

why wait until 1.2.0 to fix something as annoying as this

The fix requires architecture changes, since current VLC design will stop playing immediately on EOF. That is why it isn't trivial fix. And problem bothers all file types (so not just DVD).

There is trac if you want to look existing tickets http://trac.videolan.org/vlc

so something that was updated from 0.9.6 (the last version I have gotten to work properly) that broke this

what was that and is it really needed?

can I turn it off like a feature or something so I can use the latest version and not have this problem

I used VLC for everything and now I use XBMC but I prefer VLC because its small and simple - however if I keep using XBMC I will probably not go back to VLC unless I have problems with XBMC because I use what works for me

hope to see this fixed soon
