The messed up colors on NV12 are gone in vlc-1.1.0-rc-20100515-0202-win32.exe. Thanks a lot! :D

Ok, there seem to be a colouring issue in the latest NB and -pre4.

It should be fixed starting as of tomorrow.

Nope, we have to wait for ATI to fix their driver.

Is there a way we can petition or get ATI to fix the driver in question?

I don't know how much testing you have done on Intel GPU hardware, but I'm getting an image that is mostly green when playing back the Iron Man 2 trailer.

Here is the relevant DXVA checker string: ModeH264_VLD_NoFGT_ClearVideo: DXVA2, NV12, 720x480 / 1280x720 / 1920x1080

Here is log from Messages (verbosity = 2):

turning video acceleartion off, video is ok, but stuttering at 50% - 60% CPU load.

With MPC Home Cinema CPU is at 20% - 30% and video & sound is ok and smooth.

j-b,
I posted some information I found from doing some reading on the DXVA2 issue over on the XBMC forums. It seems to be that the Intel DXVA issue is related to the ffmpeg DXVA code. Rather than reposting the contents of the post here, I'll provide a link. I'm hoping it'll be of use to someone in resolving the DXVA2 "green screen" issue on Intel IGP's (including the Core i3/i5 gpu, which is what I am testing on).

jagilbertvt,

This is interesting, but maybe you should mail those information to vlc-devel@ or mail them to me to jb@ so the best developers can see it.
Btw, VLC GUID are correct.

1. the movie plays only a second then the image freezes and only the audio keeps playing
2. my CPU is always around 50%
3. if i try to seek it works only for 1 second then it freezes again and only the audio keeps playing
4. sometimes i get around 1 frame a second, but i haven't found out under what circumstances

i have:
Intel Dual Core CPU @ 3.2Ghz --- MMX, SSE (1,2,3), EM64T

Bonjour, Hi,

New error with final 1.1.0
Not present in RC4

Asus T91MT with intégrated GMA500 (DXVAchecked)
T91MT is a tablet PC with an Atom Z520 at 1.33 Ghz (1 core + Hyperthreading)
tested also with CPU overclocked by SetFSB to 1.6 Ghz
GMA500 inside Poulsbo chipset (US15W)
Windows 7 prenium, aero theme on, Intel driver : 5.0.0.2024, 1024x600 native 32 bits color
Image

When GPU acceleration is enable
Windows 7 crash (blue screen) when playing an .ISO file of a DVD
Without, the DVD is played fine.

Crash appear after short time play ... or after pause (space bar) and restart ...
I have reply "yes" to send the error to VLC team, after reboot
unfortunatly blue screen stay only 1 second and I can't read the message ...

If I test with the RC4, the file (same) play fine without blue screen

As usual on T91MT I uncheck the "use hadware conversion fro yuv -> rgb" that change color ... (see post on GMA500 in testing 1.1.0 forum)

Philippe.

VLC cannot crash your computers. Broken hardware or buggy drivers can. You can disable the auto restart but I would guess it complains about Intel drivers.

Hi,

I don't write that VLC crash itself the Windows7 ... but that the result of using GPU accell. is the cause of ...
The MAJOR info. is, if I run the RC4 on same DVD iso image with exactly the same options (2 diff. with default : GPU accel and hardware conv unchecked)n on the same system ...
RC4 run without crash of VLC and Windows 7, if after a reboot (not needed but to restart in clean state) I used the "actual 1.1.0" I have a crash Windows 7 (BS) ???

Yes it's possible that Intel drivers are buggy it's the lastest version for GMA500. But WHY with "normal" release and not with RC4 ????

My Windows 7 is clean and uptodate.

Yes, release can decode MPEG-2 in GPU, RC4 cannot.

Hi,
Thanks, so I confirm that selecting GPU Accel. (GMA500) and playing a DVD (ISO file to be exact) after some playing few seconds ... vlc freeze AND (on my Netbook) Windows7 crash with a blue screen.

I will try to desactivate the reboot after crash to have more info, even if It's 99% sure that graphic driver is faulty.

I have started also to redo a "pure" clean install of Windows 7, install the fresh driver from Intel (06/29/2010), even if no information reffer to DVXA mode ... and redo the test. ... I will come back with result.

But (as in fact in RC4) the DVD run fine without GPU accel. and MP4 HD play fine as in RC4 with GPU accel. (with "use hadware conversion fro yuv -> rgb" unchecked to supress the color bug explain in RC forum )

If I can out any log or other information ... don't hesitate ...

I suppose that I can add an option to vlc shortcut to add the GPU accel. to have two shotcuts, one to use vlc in Non GPU Accel. mode and the other with ????

Philippe.
NB I understand that GMA500 DVXA is not your first priority ... :P

Intel DxVA doesn't respect the standard, so, it will require more work from us. But it will come.

Hi,

As I promise some news ...

Good news, with the latest Intel GMA500 driver, no more crash when playing Mpeg2 SD DVD with GPU acceleration on ... but I am not sure that it's really used ... because no diff. in CPU usage ... ???

I have redo the test with 2024 driver and fall in crash ... so for GMA500 Windows 7 user it's really mandatory to used the lastest driver (5.0.0.2026) , even if Intel don't annouce fixed issue regarding DXVA in it.

You can see with DxVAChecker if it is loaded or not.
