Sorry to bother you guys, but I don't know anymore what to do ... since I got the 1.0.5 version my vlc looks like crap and it's really hard to use it now, I search about everywhere for an answer before posting here (yeah, here, and google, almost everywhere na ? ;) )

You use some short of unofficial Windows theme changer?

That's a negative too, it's on a windows XP, with the old style apperance (like Win2000/98/95/NT) for having less ressources used :)

If that is the case, I don't know what would cause it. QT4 should comply with Windows default settings and since there aren't any option in VLC to change it, I am clueless.

Does anything change if you choose English as VLC language?

Well, bad news, the ONLY way I founded to resolve that issue is that I uninstalled it totally, and installed an older version, the 1.0.3 one :(

Uninstall and erase the settings, it's a check box you can clik during the uninstall process. Nothing special Nano, just launch the uninstall shortcut in the VLC menu in the start system*** and during the uninstall it ask you what do you want to remove, you click everything and lets go.

I had to dig into some VLC download mirror to find an old version if you can't find it yourself just ask, and i'll sneak in again :)

*** (sorry i'm french I don't know right now how to translate that, it's 07h in the morning and I just woke up :p )

Have a very nice day/evening, and just ask if you still need help :)

You should unclick the "shadow under menu" option, in your display preferences.

Propriétés de l'affichage
Apparence
Effets
Afficher une ombre sous les menus (option à dé-sélectionner)

Enjoy :)

Hi,

I've got the same problem with fonts since I'm using VLC 1.0.5

Note that this problem occurs in the same way with google earth.
Could it be a QT configuration PB ?
This ugly font pb occurs only with these 2 softwares.
Does anybody have an answer ?

Prolly a QT4 font bug. In some cases if user changes Windows font settings, the QT4 will display "wrong" font.
