need help to change toolbar buttons

[hopeless lost]

hello,
just downloaded vlc 1.0.5 and discovered the possibillity to change toolbar buttons... always wanted a play reverse button..
and there it is! in the toolbar editor (under -->view-->customize interface--> opens the "toolbareditor") i can find a button called "trickplay reverse" and some more interesting features...
I tried arranging some nice collection of buttons and hit the close button, but nothing changed on my skin....?
I realy tried to find a description (not just silly asking the proffs..) but there is nothing (I dare to say after two hour looking)....
please you masters of this great player i love to use for many years now....
can you maybe show me where to find the solution..

It won't help. Skinned interface can be customized, but not via GUI. The toolbar editor is for default QT4 interface only.

but I think this only-text interface is way over my head....

once more thank you for your work on this wonderful player... like it very much!
and let me say: I would so much appreciate a possibility to play or jump(in small steps) reverse, not only by the timebar...
but its only the opinion of a silly user..
