dvd player

Postby sebuschi » 12 Feb 2010 22:21

What is VLC player supposed to do?
I have some very basic questions about the VLC player:

Inserting a commercial dvd into my dvd drive, I tried (I have to translate from my German installation)

media --> open file , then specified my VIDEO_TS file on the dvd-directory, nothing happens ...
media --> open folder, then specified the VIDEO_TS folder on the dvd-directory, nothing happens ...
media --> open media, ..., nothing happens

I there any way to see what's going wrong here, something like a debug-option, track-down what's wrong with my installation,
what's missing ...?

PS: I'm running WINDOWS XP SP3.

The following works for me using Windows XP Home sp3, and VLC version 1.0.5.
---
Press Media, Open Disc, Enter. This takes you to the DVD's Main Menu. If you want to watch through all the opening credits, press Play Movie. If you want skip the opening credits, press Jump To A Scene, and try the second scene listed. Sometimes this works, one Disney DVD I tried had 4 minutes 30 seconds of junk before it got down to business and showed the movie!
---
Hope this works for you,
Laren
