Hello,
I finally took the plunge and uninstalled MPC HomeCinema 64, then installed VLC 1.0.3 as my new default media player.
I located the equalizer and set it to what I consider normal audio quality for my computer, which is custom built btw. I'm operating in an audio environment of 5.1 surround sound and I immediately noticed that my center speakers are not receiving a signal when playing back 2-channel stereo audio.
In MPC HomeCinema 64-bit, my center speakers always worked when playing back a 2-channel program because MPC has a speaker configuration device which allows the user to specify speaker configurations manually. So when playing back a 2-channel stereo program my computer was basically playing back in Quad (2.1 Sub-woofer + 2 center) automatically.
Does VLC allow me to configure my speaker layout? .... Does VLC support 5.1 surround?
Perhaps I should have asked this before installing.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
