If not, how do I make VLC stop from cmd line?
I'm kind of a newbie here, and I run Windows 7
BTW Happy new year to you!

EDIT: yes, I've read the wiki. No help there (maybe a bit confusing?)
..anyhow you can spare me a minute, right? : )

IIRC you use --stop-time (or :stop-time perhaps) to say what time you want a media file to stop. Using --stop appears to work still as well (was changed to stop-time), however --stop-time is the current correct commandline option.

For example:

Code: Select all

vlc.exe --start-time 10 --stop-time 30 C:\Test.avi
Would start the file 10 seconds in and stop after 30. The units need to be in seconds.

If you want to close VLC after a file has stopped you can add:

Code: Select all

vlc://quit
Cheers, Arite.
