Postby phd » 01 Nov 2009 23:18

Hi there,

My audio is skipping/Buffering when i turn on my SPDIF output, the output works fine if i use other software, is there an updated audio codec i can use? or is there something else i can do?

I am running Vista 32Bit with VLC 1.0.3

Regards

Hi there,
Yes I have tried that, i should explain a little more, i use my spdif all the time, the sound skips if i switch the audio to A/52 over SPDIF, i am trying to play some mkv files with AC3/DTS soundtracks so i can run it through my Digital Reciver. Is this the right setting to do this or am i Doing something Wrong?

Cheers

The method is correct, but DirectX audio output module doesn't work correctly with all sound cards and that is why I suggested Waveout.

Hello!

I too have a problem with skipping sound. Am using Win7 Pro with an X-Fi XtremeMusic card. Latest drivers and all.
Yes, did the Wave32 output but nothing helps.
In Vista it helped somewhat, but I was never 100% satisfied with it.

Is it just me or does the SPDIF option really suck? The sound quality is supposed to be much better since its uncoded and lets your external processor deal with everything, but it's full of static and skipping - always. (talking about .mkv)

Any ideas?

AFAIK VLC doesn't push the packets in right timeframe and that causes issues to certain cards/setups. Specially Creatives sound cards are are very likely to have this issue.
