Issue with Windows 7 and Freebox HOME TV

Postby abohl » 10 Nov 2009 16:52

Hello !

I was using VLC under XP SP2 to view French TV with the Freebox modem.
It was really well working.
I have installed Windows 7, and VLC does not work correctly with Freebox HOME TV.

It founds the M3U play list (http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u) i.e. I see the TV channels list in the VLC Play List.
But when I select a channel I get :

Votre média d'entrée ne peut être ouvert:
VLC ne peut pas ouvrir "rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=201&flavour=hd". Vérifiez les messages pour plus de détails.

that is in English something like :

Your input media can't be open:
VLC can't open "rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=201&flavour=hd". Check the messages for more details.

My first question is "which messages"?
Then, is there a way to check this out?

I have tested on two windows 7 : same result.
I have Bitdefender 2010 as antivirus and firewall but its firewall is disabled (it sucks with win7 :<).
I have also a US Robotics router but its configuration has not changed after the windows 7 installation.
I have disabled the windows firewall : same result (Note: VLC is declared in the windows firewall with all the ports open)

Thanks for your help

Hello,

I have deleted the directory : "C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Roaming\vlc" and I have reset the FreeBox.
I have launched VLC.
Nothing has really changed.
The trace has changed a little.
The debug trace is a little different. I send you below a copy of a periodic extract.

You can watch most channels from the Freebox. I'm using Windows 7.
Don't use the m3u, but go to the Média menu and select Découverte de Services - Chaînes Freebox TV
Then open the playlist / liste de lecture and click on the Chaînes Freebox on the left.
Remark: I only get errors if I try to read the Freebox links with VLC 1.1.0 from the nightly builds, so I stick to the VLC 1.0.3 version.
A shame because the 1.1.0 has a nice feature: The Chaînes Freebox are by default in the playlist, so you don't have to go through the Découverte menu.

Hello,

On XP, versions 0.9.9, 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 were working.
On windows 7, none of these are working with the Freebox.
I can't get the channels on my PC.

I have tried an XP since I have windows 7, and it has worked on the XP.

And each time I go to the media/Playlist menu.

My last surprise is : I can watch some of the Shoutcast TV on my windows 7.

I don't understand anything.

Thanks for your help

It still doesn't work with VLC 1.1.0
I think Windows Seven is responsible of this mess.
And nobody seems to have tested it with Windows Seven.
No one seems to know how to fix that.

Hello,

what does "461 Unsupported Transport" mean?
This error code is shown in the following error log.

live555 debug: RTP subsession 'video/MP2T'
live555 error: SETUP of'video/MP2T' failed SETUP: cannot handle response: RTSP/1.0 461 Unsupported Transport
live555 debug: setup start: 0.000000 stop:0.000000
live555 error: Nothing to play for rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=201&flavour=sd

Rebooting the freebox does not change anything.

thanx

Might be a live555 bug.
