Problem pausing DVDs

Postby Conformist138 » 30 Oct 2009 10:31

I've had this problem as long as i've used VLC. When I pause a DVD for longer than about 20 seconds and press play again it hangs up and jumps several seconds ahead in the movie. I've heard that increasing the cache could help so i upped it from the default (300) to 20,000 and it made absolutely no difference. The same length of pause on a DVD still causes the exact same jump. This issue never comes up with files on my hard drive, it is specifically with DVDs. I do not think it is a problem with my DVD player because Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player both can pause and play DVDs with no problems.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I like using VLC for all my videos so I'd rather not be forced into using a different program for DVDs.

Caching logic will change in 1.1.0 release, but I don't know if it will help in your case. But you can try when it is released.
