I encounter the following problems:

VLC shouldn't crash. If you have a way to replicate this, please inform us about the steps you use.

Audio works fine in here. So I assume you have following issue

For the first case, you will find a VIDEO_TS folder making VLC to crash:
http://9giga.sfr.fr/n/50-17/share/LNK13274ae33c3419fab/

For the second case I hace deactivated the system codec choice but without any result. You said that you have tried my file and it works?
What verification can I do?

Yes it works fine in here. Did you also restart VLC after changing the setting?
For the first case, you will find a VIDEO_TS folder making VLC to crash:
No crash in here. I unzipped the VIDEO_TS folder and opened it via GUI (dvdsimple).

I have finally resetted all the settings and now I can hear the sound.

For the crash do you use "open a directory"? For me it crashes each time.

In the open disc menu, if I don't select "no menu", then it also crashes: is it normal?

Yes I hace and it is the same thing.
In the "open disc" menu, what is the need of the option "no DVD menu"?

If you want to skip menu completely.

It works fine in here with 1.0.2

You have loaded the mp4 file. It crashes with the VDEO_TS folder available here: http://9giga.sfr.fr/n/50-17/share/LNK13274ae33c3419fab/.

I used the VIDEO_TS folder. DVDsimple is used to open VIDEO_TS folder without menus.

With MP4 it shows only video file name.
