v1.0.3-rc Win - "Save Playlist in File" still doing nothing

Postby NetRunner » 22 Oct 2009 15:23

As we discussed in the thread viewtopic.php?t=65918 about the save playlist functionality without any action in all v1.0.x releases, but working well in the older v0.9.x versions, I was excited to know how the new v1.0.33-RC (running on WinXP Pro SP3) would behave in this point, read your team worked on the QT4 issues around the playlist in the changelog.

Well, still a little disappointment at this time. There's still no any reaction after clicking that menu item or using the shortcut Ctrl-Y like in all previous v1.0.x.

Any clue about this?

It works here. Ctrl+Y doesn't open a dialog? Did you delete preferences and cache?

No, I did not, because I have numberous manual changed settings to be kept!

Is there any way to keep all my own settings, while clearing the playlist preferences?

workaround succeeded !!

So, a trial on myself solved the problem! I've backed up the whole vlc preferences file folder (C:\Documents and Settings...), then re-installed vlc player with the option clearing the preferences & the caches and observed the behaviour of the preferences files (vlc-qt-interface.ini & vlcrc) after successfully (!!!) activating the file dialog box for saving the playlist in file.

The main differences between the old (not functioning) and the new contents of vlc-qt-interface.ini are in these sections:

Code: Select all

[General] ... file-dialog-state=@ByteArray( ... ) filedialog-path= ... ... [playlistdialog] geometry=@ByteArray( ... )
So I restored my saved vlcrc and the rest of vlc-qt-interface.ini and kept the above entries empty. It works now fine with all my previous settings! :) It seems they were mainly stored in vlcrc.

Thank you for the infos!

Nice greetings!
