Windows 7 64 bit pixelation

The issue for me only occurs with VLC. All other video players are fine, VLC is not. If it were a video card driver issue, why is VLC the only player affected? DirectX output does fix the problem, but kills Aero.

VLC doesn't use DirectShow. All DirectShow player work correctly (specially ones using EVR output). And issue can been seen with other players if the video output module is having a same issue.

No, it isn't. I use VLC 1.0.2 and Ati Catalyst 9.9 on Windows 7 x64. I have pixelation

You can use Vista display drivers or use DirectX or OpenGL video output module.

Vista and W7 display drivers are the same for ATI, so that's not a solution. As for DX or OpenGL, will those disable aero?

OpenGL will result in Screenshots in wrong colors.
And Direct X will disable Aero.

So, no options for me at all

If I use Open GL an take a snapshot with VLC's built in feature to make snapshots of the video, then the snapshots are in blue-ish color. In normal-non-OpenGL mode the picture looks fine

No they aren't- The drivers come in same .exe but they ain't the same.

I've opened an topic because I found this later, deleted topic, this is my situtation:
I've got a strange problem with last VLC 1.02 Windows versions:
when I try to see any videos/DVD video, the resize It's ugly and image and fonts of videos it's much aliased.
The same problem diseappear with VLC 1.02 linux version, Windows media player or Media player classic.
I've tried to reset to defaults setting or set resizing on Lanczos or Bicubic without any noticeable results.

My specs:
Ubuntu 9.04 amd64 version,
Windows 7 x64 version,
nVidia 8800 GT with nVidia 191.07 WHQL drivers.

Update 18:18:
Setting OpenGL output, the problem it's diseappeared on my pc.

So that means there are technically, two ways to get VLC working well in W7:

1.) Use Vista driver

2.) Use OpenGL

I think I'd prefer the Vista driver way if that won't cause any problem, but W7 and Vista driver is in one .exe, how on Earth do we know select Vista?

Run the setup, an look were it puts the temp files. The abort the setup.
The files should be under "C:\ATI\Support\9-9_vista64_win7_64_dd\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF"

Update your graphic card driver from device manager with the files from the folder shown above ^

I think, take "CH_87739.inf" instead of "C7_87739.inf"

zero video playback problems, with just installed unconfigured player...

and aero stays live and pretty as ever...

It looks horrible. Especially on mpegs. Most of the avis I own, look quite good.

Because as we can see on your screenshot your MPEG videos are interlaced.
Use one of the deinterlace modes from the Video menu. I suggest BOB because it will look better but it will also double the framerate hence use more CPU.

Ok, with Bob deinterlace it looks like this and it seems to play faster than normal speed.

Disable Overlay,
Try DirectX output,
Or try DirectX 3D output,
Or try OpenGL output.

Direct 3d is already set.
Direct x disables win aero design and stll pixelation.

Open GL works, but then the snapshots look blue. And I need the snapshot function

Since this looks like a deinterlace problem, aren't we a bit off topic here?

I don't think that it is an deinterlace problem, because when deinterlace is activated it is pixelated too.

The problem still without interlaced video. Isn't a deinterlace problem/topic, seem a problem with video resizing and default/Direct3D output.
