Problem with storing movies and playlist on VLC

Postby JCatguy » 05 Oct 2009 02:29

Hi,
I"ve watch all my movies lately on VLC, especially since many are now MKV. And I'm sorta fed up w/real player. Howevever, I can't seem to figure outk how to Store all my movies (MKVs, AVI's, etc) within the VideoLanPlayer? Unless there is no such storage system?

Secondly, in the meanwhile, I at least tried to set up a Playlist...but my movies are stored in various files (jdownloader, download, documents and settings, etc.)...and so, (I can't just go to one main movie folder and copy and paste, or bring up the entire file up, and turn it into a playlist, as sometimes, when you have movies uploaded they also send you a description of the movie and their website in notepad, and all of this would end up in the playlist...

In other words, when I play a movie in RPlayer, before play it...I drop it in there...and it stays... and if a movie comes in 2 parts...I came turn it into one flowing movie, using Playlist..

How do you all play your movies and pick them out, as I"ve got hundreds...using VLC? Especially, how do you make Playlists?
Thank you very much, JCatGuy

Media Library remembers the items. Playlist forgets them during VLC exit.

Hi,
So, I shouldn't bother with Playlist. Just to be sure I understood. There's no way to do a mass storage of all AVI's, MPEGS, and MP3's...as you can do w/other players.
The only way, to build a library, is by "Playing the song or the movie" and then Media Library will remember, because it was played and begin to start a list?).
Because I've played a whole lot of movies and songs on VLC...and I've clicked on Media Library, and usually only the very last movie I played is on there? So, I'm not doing something, to make it "stick" in the Med. Library...apparently.

Thank you, JCatGuy
