Starting VLC with http interface on autostart

Postby gessi2000 » 06 Sep 2009 15:50

Hello,

I have a short .bat file put in my WinXP SP2 autostart folder which should start VLC on Windows startup with aspect-ratio 16:9 and in fullscreen mode.
Also only having http interface so I can connect my Computer to a TV and manage it from my iPhone with remoteVLC.

VLC starts and I see it in my task manager. Also fullscreen and 16:9 seems to work but when I start a video it starts behing the Windows taskbar and also behing some Desktop Gadgets??
Can anyone give me a hint where I am doing wrong?

I just want to see the fullscreen movie on the foreground....

My .bat file looks like:

--------------------
Start C:\Programme\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe --aspect-ratio=16:9 -f -I http
EXIT
--------------------

Any CLI command mistakes???

P.S.: The funny thing is when I stop the VLC process via taskmanager and start the .bat file manually it works like expected??? But not when starting from autostart folder...

You mean that the VLC draws to desktop background?

And you haven't enabled DirectX wallpaper mode by accident?

Does it help if you for example force opengl video output on?

Code: Select all

--vout=opengl

Hmmm...

same issue...

When removing everything from the vlc.exe call except:
--------------------
Start C:\Programme\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe -f -I http
EXIT
--------------------

it works fine...

...but I want to set the aspect ratio manually to fix it

If it shows with OpenGL also, then it isn't Wallpaper mode issue.

yep! Seems like as a left mouseclick brings it to the front...

I don't know how make it work properly. There was some (I don't remember the name) which would allow you to force focus to single application window. AFAIK VLC doesn't touch the focus setting at all, so something else is putting it to background.
