No automatic multichannel recognition in 1.0.1

Postby cmw » 01 Sep 2009 05:06

I use 1.0.1 on Windows 7 RC. Everything works most of the time (some pixelated video aside, but I read it's ATI's fault), but there's one odd thing: When I load for example a mkv file that has a 5.1 DTS, AC3 or AAC Track, VLC will always choose Stereo as playback mode by default. I can manually set Output to 5.1 and it works properly then, but it's really annoying to have to do so every time for every video. I tried to set force dolby recognition to on, but that didn't do anything. It just seems a bit buggy^^

You can already override it, Tools -> Preferences... (Show settings: All) Audio -> Output modules -> DirectX and Select speaker configuration.
EDIT:
And Dolby Surround isn't the same as multichannel output or Dolby Digital.

Hmm, i have set it to DirectX in the latest nightly, and in the Windows speaker settings, 5.1 is definatly selected. VLC will still default to Stereo every time a new file is opened. It's very annoying :/
