unable to install VLC 1.0.1

I keep getting this error despite repeated downloads from different sources.

was working fine on version 0.90 downloaded V1.0.1 and it refused to install.
Any idea whats wrong?

I am also getting an error message when I attempt to download the update file. Mine says "Failed to open "C:/Users\XXXXX\Downloads\" for writing"
It also says this when I try to download to my desktop. I have been trying to install the update for a couple of weeks now and no go.

I have Windows Vista Basic on a 6 month old computer. I do not have security blocking downloads. Please help. Thanks!

Pleiadestar: Help -> Check for updates... doesn't work correctly. So download and install latest VLC manually.

jason1980: shutdown all running vlc.exe instances (use task manager) and close down your browsers before installing new VLC version. Or reboot computer and install.

Hey thanks managed to resolved it.
A little weird that VLC is running on the taskbar after uninstallation of V 0.9.
