VLC and PCTools Internet Security Crash System

Postby Spanaway01 » 06 Aug 2009 23:24

Tried fo a couple of hours to get the new version of VLC Player from VideoLAN to run without totally locking up my system. I tried different versions and no luck. Then I realized I had uninstalled an older version just before I upgraded to PCTools Internet Security. VLC appeared to install when in reality it was getting blind sided by IS. I diabled IS, installed VLC, rebooted and all is OK. Seems there is a conflict between these two.

For the lockup all I had to do was to click on the icon - the app never opened, mouse froze, keyboard dead, had to push the reset.

Supplied for information. No reply is necessary.

Hopefully you posted this to PCTools, it is their problem. Not ours.
