Moving Subtitles to Letterbox

Is it possible to move the subtitles in videos that play at an aspect ratio where there is substantial 'letter box' black screen area? In the 'Preferences' in the 'Subtitles & OSD' I tried 'Force subtitle position' -- but it did nothing with an input range of +/-50px; this was playing an MKV video, subtitles were not, how do you say 'hard-coded' to the video, but wrapped in the MKV, as I can enable/disable them...

There isn't direct option for this. But there is a workaround
