Installing 1.0: uninstall previous version first?

When installing the new 1.0 version of VLC, should we first uninstall the previous version we have, or is it ok to just install over the top of it?

i don't think u have to but it would be recommand

also it may help if u rest vlc prefrences and cache files when u upgrade to 1.0

always nice to start with things fresh though other people may think diffrently
