I had an unable to open stream error, VLC dialog popped up and said see log for details, where do I find the log?
I looked in the VLC folder and did not find it.

Tools -> Messages... (set Verbosity to 2) before opening the stream.

Ok got that, since I am using the windows version, I have another question, I am using VLC player to stream a scanner radio I have to click stop and play again every hour or so, since it is not a stream that has continuous audio, I wonder if VLC goes into a sleep mode or something like that, if this is the case, how do I turn the sleep mode off? Or if not in sleep mode why is it losing the audio until I stop it and restart playing?

Tools -> Messages... might reveal why the audio is lost.
