blocky/pixelated videos on Windows 7 RC (build 7100)

Postby misthero » 20 May 2009 08:17

Hi everyone, like i said in the subject, my videos (any format and resolution) appears pixelated with jagged edges, like a videogame with no Anti-Aliasing activated. The exact same videos render just fine in WMP. The problem is I hate WMP :p

I got the same problem in windows media player classic, I could switch the playback output to haali renderer and this solved the issue there, but I cannot find any workaround in vlc options. any idea??

here is an example, is the same movie, i'm sorry is not the exact same frame. First shot is in WMP

And this second shot is VLC

It will work with DirectX, but not with Direct3D for some weird reasons.

thank you j-b

it worked with directX, but every time I open (or close) VLC now my screen flickers and windows gives me a weird message:

not a big issue but a bit annoying.

Yep. It is a display adapter driver issue. DirectX output disables Aero, that is why you get the info.
