Windows Vista 64bit Compatibility/Issues?

Postby interested » 15 Apr 2009 03:12

Hello.
I was just wondering if the latest VLC player is compatible with windows vista 64bit?

The only download i see is "vlc-0.9.9-win32.exe" which i gather from the file name is for 32bit systems.
So where can i get a 64bit version if it does exist?

Also are the codecs which are included with VLC player also compatible with windows vista 64bit?
or will they cause problems for my windows media player?

I am just looking for a good way to play xvids/divx files on my new 64bit system and i want to ensure i select the best codec/player out there.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There isn't any 64 bit VLC builds available for x64. There might be at one day.

VLC can only use build-in codecs. And WMP or other players cannot use those. So VLC won't mess your codec jungle.
