VLC freeze with German IPTV stream

Postby tomno399 » 04 Mar 2009 18:18

thanks to VLC_help: I repeat my question here and add informations.
Sorry, english is not my nativ language. I use Vista, 16000 DSL and new the VLC 0.9.8a (before I had an older version). Since I use the newest I have problems with getting public tv streams from the german tv. The tv-receive in the VLC freeze after round about 1 till 2 minutes. After a new start of VLC it needs also only 1 - 2 minutes and it's stopped again. With the older VLC it runs very good.

I use an official public (for my provider t-home) playlist from here: http://www.ard-digital.de/index.php?id= ... nguageid=1 (T-Home IPTV.zip). There are all URLs and ports included. The multicast addresses and ports (for everybody who don't have t-home as provider) are here: http://www.ard-digital.de/14029_1.

I hope someone can check it with the same result and can give information what mistake it is. (I know the biggest is in front of the screen but I hope not at this moment).
Thanks Thomas

Guten Abend Thomas,

I just checked from France (I downloaded two of the playlists). VLC is not crashing, but no audio or video.
One set is RTP and the other UDP. Perhaps someone would know how to change settings - I don't have a clue.
It could be too that there is a blockage for non German IP addresses so that testing outside Germany has no sense.

Those multicast addresses cannot be accessed from outside networks.

multicast addresses in this ip-area are only available if you inside the ip network from your provider
scarcely you do it right it works ...

ok I understand there are no users from germany who use the same network and can retrace my problem. Can anyone else please say me an open channel of iptv whatever language it is? Maybe I will get the same problem then? Only with audio receive (online radio) I have no problems.
Thanks Thomas

ok, if i understand your posts you are inside this network. Whats happened if you open one stream inside the playlist and NOT the playlist self ? Set loglevel=2 before you do this and report the logfile ...
scarcely you do it right it works ...

No this is the settings control file and not the log file. The log windows you should open with ctrl-m. you should a intensiv look at the "extra" menu ...
scarcely you do it right it works ...

The stream isn't spec compliant or VLC decoder doesn't understand it. If you can capture small test sample and upload it here, someone should be able to figure it out.

Use services like rapidshare or megaupload.

File seems to be corrupted. Mediainfo doesn't identify it, nor does Quicktime open it.

hmmm
VLC open it here without problems, Quicktime Player 7.4 opened it after a second double click too but it was very fast running, flickering and jerking. I saved it with the streaming assistant of VLC 0.8.6i without transcoding (I installed that old version hoping that the stream runs but it does not). I do not know what I can do more. Thank you for your wish to help. I resign now and wait for better weather and maybe for another version which will work.
Thank you Thomas

This file works OK in my end. No errors in VLC. QuickTime cannot decode it correctly, but that isn't a surprise.

Sorry, that file was saved by the VLC 0.9.8a. It has the same failure, it freezes after that time of playing you have as file.
Greetings Thomas

Hello VLC_help,

the problem is the firewall of Vista ultimate SP1. The firewall blocks the videolan player after that time of 1 - 2 minutes. VLC is in the list as exception registered, but it does not work. Additional I wrote manual VLC with "all ports open" in. It did not work. Only when I disabled the firewall then VCL runs well.

Bye and thank you for all!
Thomas
